New York Giants in 1990 were built to specifications coach Bill Parcells "Football" power ": a strong defense and an offense that has supported extremely long drives. The Giants defense ranked second in the league in total yards allowed less (4392) and first in fewest points allowed, and boasted three Pro Bowl selections: defensive tackle Erik Howard and linebacker Pepper Johnson and Lawrence Taylor. The secondary was led by defensive back Everson Walls, an offseason acquisition of Dallas Cowboys, who recorded six interceptions. The Giants' offense has been spectacular, ranking only 17th in the league in yards gained and points scored 13. But they were the opposing teams defense with long drives, keeping their opponents' offense on the sidelines and prevent the score. More importantly, the Giants established an NFL record by losing only 14 turnovers in a 16-game regular season. An important reason for successful offensive team was the blocking of linemen Bart Oates and William Roberts, the only Pro Bowlers on the offensive. Dave Meggett Kick Returns led the NFL Punt return yards (467), while gaining 492 yards on kickoff returns, rushing for 164 yards and catching 39 passes 410 meters.
New York began the regular season by winning their first 10 games, and then spun and lost three of its next four years. A week after losing to Division rival Philadelphia Eagles, 3113, the Giants were defeated by 101 on Monday Night Football in a defensive battle with 73 of the San Francisco 49ers 101, which won the two previous Super Bowls, and finally ended the regular season with an NFL best 142 albums. Then, in 1713 its loss accounts, New York suffered a blow when quarterback Phil Simms is down for the season with a broken bone in his foot.

However, Hostetler New fine passing and turning over in his capacity limited playing time during the season, and launched a intercept and we have not searched. With Hostetler at the helm, the Giants responded by winning their last two games to finish the regular season 133, good enough for win the NFC East and on the basis of winning the second seed in the NFC playoffs.

Projects Bill was a very talented team, with nine Pro Bowl selections in your list. His defense was led by defensive end Bruce Smith, has recorded 19 sacks and won the NFL Player Defensive of the Year. Behind him, three Bills linebacker Darryl Talley, Shane Conlan and Cornelius Bennett were selected to the Pro Bowl. And on special teams Pro Bowler Steve Tasker is a major threat, forcing turnovers, with shaking tackles, and blocking kicks.
But as good as their defense was, was the offensive Bills striking great power that has won the most attention. Unlike the Giants, the Bills offense commonly used without meeting the storm the field and score points quickly. Instead of going on a run down after every game, quarterback Jim Kelly immediately send his offense to the line of scrimmage and call the game there after read the defense. This strategy prevented the defense challenge to read Bills training, replacements, or even catch his breath.
The crime bills "No huddle" K-Gun has worked well enough for Kelly at the end of the regular season as the highest scoring quarterback in the NFL (101.2), scheduled for 2829 yards, 24 touchdowns and only nine interceptions. One of the reasons for its success was that he had two outstanding recipients of passes: Andre Reed, who has made his specialty until the mid-slopes and cross the street, recorded 71 receptions, 945 yards and eight touchdowns, and the future Hall of Famer James Lofton, who was the threat of depth 35 catches for 712 yards (20.3 yards per catch average). Even if Kelly has missed the last two games of the season with a knee injury, suffered in the same game in which the Giants lost Simms, the draft Law finished with a season high of 133 regular.

San Francisco offense has been considered the best in the NFC, led by future Hall of Famer Joe Montana and receiver Jerry quarter Rice. However, with the exception of a touchdown pass of 61 yards to wide receiver Montana, John Taylor, the Giants offense 49's very well contained. A sack by Giants defensive end Leonard Marshall early in the fourth quarter out of the game beaten Montana. Despite his great defensive effort, the Giants trailed 13-9 at the end to the fourth quarter, but a run of 30 yards to linebacker Gary Reasons of a fake punt their fourth striker Matt Bahr field, reducing their deficit to 13-12. The 49's (now directed by Steve Young) tried to start the clock on their next possession, but San Francisco running back Roger Craig had the ball dislodged by nosetackle Eric Howard, Lawrence Taylor escaped and recovered the air, with 2:36 remaining. However, Buffalo scored a touchdown on their first album of the period with a five-yard Thurman Thomas. Miami lost a fumble on the kickoff that followed, bills to put the game away with a touchdown pass of 26 yards to Andre Reed Kelly. Super Bowl before the game news
Bills have been heavily favorite to win the Super Bowl XXV. The Most experts expected that the Giants defense would not be able to keep the Bills' turbo attack without meeting who scored 95 points in two playoff games. Many have also questioned the effectiveness of the Giants offense would be after the failure to mark only one touchdown in the NFC Championship game. Also during the 15th week of the regular season, the teams met at Giants Stadium, where the Draft Bill dismissed Giants in 1713.

Party Summary
To counter the Bills offense, "without meeting, the Giants' strategy was to use a power running game of the Olympics Anderson aided by the deployment of the guard, bootlegs and play action fake. As a striker Mark Bavaro later recalled, "[t] he came out with three tight ends, Hicks fat moving around and will help to tackle OJ, if I could. "This allowed them to have free time and limited Buffalo possessions. The Giants set a Super Bowl record for time of possession 40 minutes, 33 seconds including 22 minutes in the second half. On defense, New York wanted to be physical with Buffalo's wide receivers, and playing with extra defensive backs to concentrate on the arrest Bills passing game, while the assumption that the racing game.
The contrast was evident in the strategies during the first period. After forcing Bills to stop the disc opener, the Giants consumed 6:15 on the clock marched 58 yards in 10 games to score a goal by Matt Bahr 28 yards. In this record, ran New York five running plays and pass five plays. But the Bills struck back on their next possession with a set of five, 66-yard drive that took 1:23 on the clock, including the completion of 61 yards peaks James Lofton Jim Kelly set the clock receiver Scott Norwood field goal 23 yards to tie the score at 3-3.
After forcing the Giants to punt on their next possession, the offensive Strategy Projects Bill "began working to perfection. Kelly took the Bills in 12 plays to score from 80 yards that consumed 4:27 and moved the ball so that the team never face third down. Kelly completed six consecutive passes (Four to Andre Reed) for 62 yards, Don Smith and the half ended with a pass one yard touchdown run to give Buffalo a 10-3 lead. Smith touchdown run 1-yard run was his only make the game and the last postponement of his career. Reed five catches first quarter reached a record Super Bowl.
After negotiations flat, the Giants were favorites in their own 7-yard line. On second down, defensive lineman Bruce Smith Jeff Hostetler quarterback sacked in end zone incentive for bills safer "12-3. In the play, Smith was able to force a fumble from Hostetler held the ball only his shooting hand. But to his credit, Hostetler held the ball to Smith, helping to ensure that only 2 points would be awarded.
Bills began in his album with great field position after the free kick, but were forced to punt after three plays. Taking the ball his own 13-yard line with 3:43 left in the second, the Giants have abandoned their long-range strategy and the employees of a fast break the strike of their own. Hostetler led the Giants 87 yards, scoring on a 14-yard touchdown to receiver Stephen Baker, with only 25 seconds left in half to reduce the deficit from New York to 12-10.
The Giants opened the third quarter and have resumed their original strategy game driving 75 yards in 14 games to score on Ottis Anderson Run touched a rod, taking the lead to 17-12. The unit uses a record Super Bowl, while nine minutes and 29 seconds (since surpassed by the Giants in Super Bowl XLII), and included four successful conversions by third parties. Highlights was a place to move to 14 receiver Mark Ingram, 3 down and 13 yards to go. Ingram caught a short pass and broke five tackles for first and keep the readers of Buffalo alive.
After forcing Buffalo to Punt on their next possession, New York has resulted in the line of the Bills 35 yards. But in the fourth and two, Smith approached Anderson for a loss of 2 yards. Buffalo then took over and won the field by promoting the 63 yards in just four plays and scoring Theater in a burst 31 yards from running back Thurman Thomas on the first play of the fourth quarter, taking the head from 1919 to 1917. Thomas fourth quarter touchdown runs scored 1000 points in the story Super Bowl (1,001 with the extra point).
However, before the Bills' defenders were able to catch your breath, were found in the field trying to Giants contain another long journey. It has 14 plays and 74 yards, half of which is released Hostetler pass to tight end Mark Bavaro, and took another 7:32 of the clock. Bills have managed to stop the unit in its own 3-yard line to linebacker Cornelius Bennett broke the third Hostetler to pass, but Bahr launched his second field goal to give New York a 20-19 advantage.
In possession of the Bills that followed, it could advance its 41-yard line, before taking the Punt, allowing the Giants to take more time on the clock. The Bills finally forced New York to Punt the ball and took his 10-yard line with 2:16 remaining clean. Kelly then brought down on the floor a mixture of confused, short passes and running Thomas. Buffalo has led the Giants 29-yard line, setting up Norwood for a shot attempt from 47 yards with eight seconds play. However, his forehand sailed together less than a meter vertical pole.
There were many impressive performances in the game by players from both teams. Jim Kelly completed 18 of 30 passes for 212 yards with no interceptions, while adding another 23 yards rushing in six attempts. Jeff Hostetler completed 20 of 32 passes for 222 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 10 yards. Dave Meggett registered 129 combined net yards (48 rushing, 18 receiving, 37 punt return, 26 kickoff back). But the best performance came from two teams of runners starting. Ottis Anderson rushed for 102 yards, caught one pass for seven yards and scored a touchdown. Thurman Thomas scored a touchdown, ran for 135 yards and caught five passes for 55 yards, giving him 190 total yards in the line of scrimmage. Thomas 135 meters are the most yards for a member of a team that loses. This was also the second Super Bowl in two 100-yard runners.
The defensive game plan the Giants, written by defensive coordinator Bill Belichick has been included in the Hall of Fame. The Belichick and the victory helped the Giants receivers coach Tom Coughlin, whose name and, eventually, land head coaching job with the Cleveland Browns and Boston College, respectively. Today, Belichick is the coach of the New England Patriots, while Coughlin was the head coach of Boston College first of the Jacksonville Jaguars, and is currently the coach of the Giants. Giants head coach Bill Parcells retired shortly after winning his second Super Bowl with the Giants. However, he has coached three other teams: the New England Patriots (who helped Super Bowl XXXI) 1993-1996, New York Jets from 1997-1999, and the Dallas Cowboys from 2003-2006. Both Coughlin and Belichick has won a Super Bowl as head coaches: Belichick with the Patriots Super Bowl XXXVI, XXXVIII, XXXIX and, with the Giants in Super Bowl XLII Coughlin, ironically against the Patriots Belichick.
This was the first Super Bowl in which neither teams committed a turnover. The only other Super Bowl to date without a turnover that is Super Bowl XXXIV, where the St. Louis Rams defeated the Titans Tennessee 23-16.
