Where do the Internet?

Although it often feels like the Internet has always been with us, is in fact a relatively new compared to mature technologies like television. What many people do not realize, however, is a series of small improvements for decades, have had a significant impact on growth. It was during these events "that something fundamental has been added to the system, which is easier to use, low cost adopt. The most important factor is that the standards developed are "open", this means that you can use without incurring any charge. The following article covers the major events in the development of Internet, since its inception to its current form.

Birth: The Cold War

During the Cold War, it is fair to say that fear has been an important motivating factor, especially when it comes to defense spending in the United States. During the decade 1960 relations between the USSR and the USA soured further when the conquest of space have been essential. Apparently, it was to put satellites, so that people in space for further development of humanity. Indeed, it has been the development of technology that would give any party a military advantage. After the Soviets came the ante with the launch of Sputnik, the United States for resources in many projects to maintain the parity technique.

An example ARPANET. This was the starting point for the Internet. It was a network of connected computers (or devices – Only 4 initially) that have sent their data in packets. Meaning: The information has been divided into batches of parts, which are transported across the network, then reassembled at the other end. It has often been reported that this approach has been Package approved, because the network could survive a nuclear attack. In fact, you can – but it was not the reason for packet switching. The components were much less reliable than today, although in the case of a failure, the message would be to find another route for the broken component. A bit like a good fishing network, with nodes representing each unit (computer) and the chain is the communication between the two. If you make a big tear in the network, there are many other ways to move from one point to another.

In 1983, the military ARPANET game (becoming MILNET) and the network has begun to move in another direction. A new packet switching protocol has been developed – TCP / IP networks can communicate across national borders, by adopting an agreed standard. TCP / IP is always the Internet protocol used today (that's what the research part). A protocol is often called a handshake, because when two parties agree to share a handshake must precede it. What happens is that they agree on a common set of rules. For example, the rules of protocol for sending a letter or email – should be add an address, postal mail or postal code and a seal or Frank. This is the pre-agreed rules to successfully send a letter.

The adolescents: CERN Dial

The European Organization for Nuclear Research (known as CERN) has begun installing a network TCP / IP in the 1980s to allow communication between its various member sites (12 countries in the first place.) In 1989 – Tim Berners-Lee has launched a project called ENQUIRE HTML (Hypertext has been a small part of the parents of SGML) to allow researchers to to share information with the other, the use of TCP / IP. Show HTML is facilitated by a browser (one of the first was a popular ViolaWWW), which cached information links and provides technical (and later – photos, videos, maps, etc..) Berners-Lee made his public domain technologies that have provided quick interest in the project. At this point (with the introduction of a browser) – Internet became the World Wide Web.

Mosaic was the first browser to gain popularity world, but mostly in the academic world in 1993. Less than a year had passed from Netscape Navigator, and a year later, the young Internet Explorer Explorer for Microsoft, was released. It was then that Internet service providers began offering unlimited access cap and remote access to home users a flat fee. In 1995, Alta Vista introduced the technology of search engines, in an attempt to control spiraling volumes of information is added to the WWW.

Google entered the market in 1999, at a time when a reliable encryption protocol has been applied (SSL – Secure Sockets Layer) for newly created e-commerce sites ", which adds fuel to the growth of the Web. Now you can buy products to sure, came in the mail. Amazon was one of the first companies in the market to establish a level of trust with customers, so comfortably key credit card / Debit card information.

Middle Ages: Most web

After the breakup of the Internet bubble in 2001, adjusted their business models online, but there was no interruption of growth, both users or new sites. The widespread adoption of broadband enabled total information online that is getting richer (photos, videos, applications, etc) has also pushed up the devices that carry Internet connections – especially mobile phones and game consoles. In 2008, more people access to the WWW (worldwide) the use of mobile phones than computers. These bursts overall growth is still a new technology or application murderer "with the email was the first. The current trend commentators often refer WWW to Web 2.0.

Web 2.0 encompasses collaborative activities on the web, including blogs, wikis, social networks: Facebook, MySpace, Bebo, Flickr, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc. There is no doubt that they have a significant impact on what the Web is used, but it is also interesting to note that Google is always gain market share from search engines, while almost three-quarters of all searches worldwide, starting with its search engine. Criticisms ranking in the Google engine, you must have new content, unique and relevant – with links to support what you are doing (and out of place.)

In many respects – Web 2.0 is heavily influenced by Google's ranking algorithms. The sites that do nothing – get nothing (in terms of traffic). They certainly deserve some credit for the way the web is developing, so egalitarian. What Let's face it – is not exactly the typical behavior of a giant global enterprise.
