Childhood obesity is a growing problem in our society. The number of children obesity more than doubled in the last 20 years, and is currently the most common nutritional disease among children in the United States. (1.2) children today are not as active as children 20 or older. The first case is on TV.
One of the main things that have changed since then to now use and abuse of television. 20 years ago, television was regarded as special. Most families have limited the sample, and this time spent watching television. Watching television has become one of the most important activities for children. For example, if my children had their way, to watch TV when you come in the door. In During the school week, we limit the number of television our children are allowed to view. The weekend however, turn on the TV as soon as they wake up and watch them all day. (I did a small study of my own children in the last two weekends.) Watching television includes not only see what is different channels, but includes video games and play on the computer. If my children have their way, which will be on a TV or a computer screen 24 / 7. Talking to my children, I ask them what they do when they go to the home of a friend and in most cases, the answer is watching TV or playing video games. My oldest son is struggling with obesity and has been for some time. It is pretty well at home and watch television than go outside to play. My youngest child is different. What is much more active and sometimes spend almost the same as seeing TV and running.
Other major problem with child obesity is the worst food choices of children and their parents do. Our society is concerned by food. Each year, thousands of new food products placed on the market and consumers want more foods that are new. 5,500 new food products introduced in 1985 and 1995, 17,000 new food products have flooded the market. (3) From the age of two years, children receive messages on diet change drastically. The children become targets of many advertisements for unhealthy foods. It is estimated that children are exposed to 10,000 ads per year, of which 95% are food quick, candy, sugary cereals and soft drinks. (4) The manufacturers do not necessarily care about the nutritional value of foods advertised. advertising food to children is often high in fat and calories. For the promotion of their products that favorite television characters use children to sell their products. Patent want to please their children and often times end up buying food that children require. Several times when we are in the supermarket, my children need a certain type of cereal or sweets, because it has one of his favorite characters in it. Unfortunately for them, usually do not understand, just for this reason.
Many times, children will eat what is called "snacks" uncontrollable. They munch while watching TV and not paying attention to the amount of food they eat in. The formula is simple: diet + obesity = inactivity. Now more than ever parents should be involved in their children's dietary habits.

The effects of obesity in children are so into adulthood. Many children develop eating disorders from the beginning. Many of them go inside and outside diets for the rest of their lives. Some people develop eating disorders that threaten life as anorexia nervosa or bulimia. Either of these diseases can be fatal. Peer pressure is often the trigger of these unhealthy ways to lose weight. "A classic study conducted in the 1960s, responsible for classifying children and six pictures of different children in physical characteristics and disabilities for which they would like more for a friend. Image obese child ranked last images of children with crutches, wheelchairs, with a severed hand and a disfigurement. (6) This has not changed in the last 40 years. Obese children are still the last series of the equipment and are mocked. I myself have been obese all my life and I had to endure cruelties over the years and it seems that people including children, are even more intolerant of obesity.
The fact that obese children are the subject of ridicule and contempt by their peers and adults, leading to depression and low self-esteem. It is very difficult to overcome these things. Other effects of childhood obesity is not fair, but obesity are usually many health problems. "More 60% of overweight children have at least one additional risk factor for cardiovascular disease such as hypertension, hyperlipidemia, or hyperinsulinemia. (7) Diabetes it is also growing obese children.
Parents must take responsibility and educate their children about the dangers of childhood obesity. Parents should limit the amount of television their children watch and make sure their children are more active.

About the Author
As the mother of two awesome teenage sons and the wife of one of the best soldiers in the U.S. Army, my life had to endure many challenges. Growing up in a physically and mantally abusive home was just the beginning… In 2004 I underwent gastric bypass surgery and lost 180 lbs along with the emotional baggage that had accumulated. During one of my husbands deployments to Iraq, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. My positive attitude and the ability to look at situations from different perspectives has helped me make it through it all. Not only did I “make” it through, but I am still smiling and standing strong. Through my years as a military spouse, I have had the priviledge to talk to, inspire, and empower so many people. It just continues on and I am happy to be able to share and help empower people through positive thinking to see different perspectives.
