Universal LLC Geneon Entertainment Japan,. (, Jeneon Yunibaasaru Entateinmento Kabushiki-gaisha?) (Formerly known as Pioneer Entertainment, or Pioneer LDC – Pioneer LaserDisc Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Pioneer Corporation) is a Japanese anime production and home entertainment and distribution companies headquartered in Akasaka, Minato, Tokyo, Japan. Geneon has been involved in the production and distribution of anime Japan numerous. North Branch Geneon specializes in translating and distributing anime and related products, such as audio tapes of any region. Geneon is an acronym for the words in English, to generate and Eon. On February 1, 2009, Geneon merged with Universal Pictures Universal Japan Geneon Entertainment.

History
Universal Geneon been formed under the name Pioneer LDC in 1981. In July 2003, the company was acquired by the Japanese advertising firm Dentsu and marketing and renamed Geneon Entertainment, while its division North America, Pioneer Entertainment, Geneon USA has been renamed.
In November 2004, Geneon USA signed an agreement with Toei Animation to distribute some their titles in the North American market. Launch titles include Air Master, Interlude and Slam Dunk. But in late 2006, the operation is complete and all published titles out of print.
In March 2007, Geneon has become the exclusive distributor in North America Bandai Visual U.S.. Four months later, ADV Films announced that it would have on the distribution, marketing and sale of properties Geneon USA in the United States from October 1, 2007. According to the announcement, Geneon USA to continue acquiring, licensing and production of English subs and dub anime for release in North America. In July 2008 a formal agreement was announced and FUNimation acquired the rights to "manufacture, sale and distribution "other Geneon anime and live action titles. November 12, 2008, Dentsu said it would sell its 80.1% share in the company of NBC Universal Entertainment and Universal Pictures International (UPI), which plans to merge the company with a division of Universal Pictures Japan to form a new company. Fusion closed on February 1, 2009. The new company called Universal Geneon Entertainment Japan.

In 2006, Geneon has been named the best company Anime "by the Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation.
