television hz meaning
How often old tube televisions "hiss" on?

I mean, like … 17 000 Hz Hz? 18,000 Hz? What is old "tube" televisions often when they are very strong and whistle?

The whistle is a broadband noise with components ranging from less than 50 Hz at frequencies supersonic above 20kHz. What really hear is a function of the audio frequency response of your TV and the peaks and valleys in it. Since there is a sub-carrier stereo at 19 kHz, high frequency cut is much less than, as with the FM radio. The speaker and its frequency response is also an important factor.
