Survey data help?
A local television station has sent questionnaires to determine if viewers prefer a documentary a talk show or a repeat of a game show. There were 700 responses with the following results: 210 were interested in a show and an interview documentary not repeatedly. 28 were interested in a talk and repetition, but not a documentary. 168 were interested in showing an interview, but not a documentary. 42 were interested in an interview and reruns. 70 were interested in a documentary and reruns. 98 repetitions were interested, but do not show an interview. 56 were interested in any of the three. a. How many viewers are interested in seeing an interview? b. How many viewers are interested in seeing all three programs? C. How many viewers are interested in seeing exactly what show? I need to create a Venn diagram to organize the data.
The best way to solve this is to draw Venn diagram and connect the numbers. Use abbreviations I = Interview, R = repetition, and D = documentary, the Venn diagram will have eight categories: none, I, D, R, R & D, D & R, R & I & ID & R. You know the question: I & DI = 210 + I = 28 I & I and R = R & R 168 and R & D and R = 42 R & D plus R & D and R = 70, R & D more than R = 98 = 56 ANY way you can conclude that NO = 56 I = 140 D = 154 R = 42 = 210 I + DI + DI + I = 56 = 28 R & D and R = 14
