Television Personalities

television personalities

In the last two months I found a word that when I use it, I immediately cringe and say, "Starla, you said again! Now Enough! "This is not the word itself makes me cringe, but rather how they use the word makes me mad.

To better understand how I came to this point, let's go back a year ago, when my husband and I took note of several TV personalities and celebrities using this word in a way that sounded bit ridiculous. This, of course, provoked a long discussion the reasons why people would use that word in this regard. We concluded that it was pure laziness.

Now fast forward a few months …

My husband and I make love every laugh if it was only a matter of time before we started Injection of this word in our conversations at home just to see if the other person is captured. Unfortunately – in time – our game is Silly use of this word (well) a normal part of our conversations. I guess you could say that the joke is on us.

What word am I speaking? To explain, let me give some examples:

Example # 1

Brian asked: "Starla, You went to the gym today?" I replied: "No, I have written two articles and I took a little longer than expected. So ……," and then my voice trailed off.

What in the world "so …" this mean? You mean: "I'm too tired to finish my thought, then you have to end for me? "

Example # 2

Brian asked, "set the freezer repairman today?" Starla replied: "I called and left a message for him. When he returned my call, I was on the phone with a customer. Then …," and then my voice is lost.

Again I ask, "What if … say?" Means: "Now that some details … a conclusion because I'm too lazy to reach this conclusion for you? "

Example # 3

I told my husband was J. crew today and bought a beautiful sheath dress that can be used both in a professional and relaxed. Then …," and my voice was lost.

Once again I ask: "What if … say?" You mean, "concluded that my thoughts and I have no more to say then I will do my daughter sign inside the valley and fill the dead space with a useless word that seems ridiculous?

I am very disappointed that allowed me to use this word (this way) to infiltrate my speech. The words we use and how we say a lot about who we are as individuals, and in my opinion, when I use the word "if" in the manner described above it screams lazy and unprofessional.

I certainly do not want to be perceived as lazy and unprofessional, so here is the commitment that I am to myself

In the coming months I will be particular attention to my conversations with all the world – including my husband. I'll put all my thoughts to an overall conclusion and I will remove unnecessary burdens for others to talk perceive me as intelligent and professional.

I challenge you to do the same! A thorough knowledge of English and know how to use it, allows us to establish relationships and communicate more effectively with others. Leave your comfort zone this month, and pay particular attention to the verbal business card. Is there room for improvement? If so, jump on and do!
