Which name brand is the best (LCD TV’s)…?

I am thinking about purchasing an LCD television and I am to say the least….CONFUSED. My husband and I went and looked at them last night. We thought that the Vizio name brand had the clearest picture quality, but everyone we talk to says that Vizio is the worst! To look at them, I think the opposite!!! What are your thoughts…I need some good advice before I go spending a ton of money. Thanks in advance.

Samsung was recently found to the highest quality across the board in Consumer Reports. Sony has also traditionally been rated pretty high, but it is more expensive.

Vizio is a second tier set (I have one myself). My understanding is that if you ever have trouble with your Vizio, you will have difficulty getting it repaired and I have been told that Vizio actually expects you to keep the box and packing material so you could pack it up and send it back them!

I think it is a great idea for people to go look at a TV before you buy it. However, looking at a single set or even a couple of them at a retail store doesn’t always give you realistic expectations on which to base a purchase either.

As an example, we do not really know the signal source they were feeding the Vizio TV you thought was very clear. They could have it hooked to a blu-ray player while other TVs in the same store were connected to something else. Also, the settings on the TV make a big impact in how you see the picture.

Choosing a TV is not an easy thing to do. But my recommendation would be to do a lot of reading yourself of specs and then look at as many TVs in stores as you can. Also, you have to have a realistic understanding of what you can afford versus what these things cost and only once you have considered all this info, can you really start to make a choice.
