This Week in Technology: Augmented Reality and 3D Technology
This week, we chose to focus on technologies that seem Augmented reality have made significant advances recently, both in terms of capacity, mobile development and integration into existing mobile devices.
As always, this list is not exhaustive, but if we feel that we have lost something please know us in the main comments section. We try to cover the technologies are more relevant to the types of software and applications that we develop here Amadeus Consulting, as it is a technology that we hope to play as soon as possible get their hands on this developer.
Retail Sales
Everyday smartphones seem to be a little smarter and it seems that every day we get a little closer to life in the world of Star Trek, with holodeck tricorders and closer than ever.
More impressive is the power mobile applications. We have seen some applications of augmented reality really cool that you can layer images and information on the basis of what the camera sees. Among some test applications that use a product called IBM's presence.
Detects the presence of buyers (who voluntarily use the service) when enter a store. Presence can take the buying habits of purchasing and controlling the duration of each client costs in different areas of the bank. Then uses this data to monitor the effectiveness of sales and offer coupons in the store or other incentives to buy a product.
Similar to Cisco Mobile Concierge system, presence can make product recommendations. IBM Executive Craig W. Stevenson, who oversees attendance was quoted by The New York Times that "[W] e are also able to do predictive analysis – Predicting what we think you might want based on what we know about you. "
This could include information you provide, such as the size of clothing or music preferences, or things that are currently in your cart, like a cake mix that requires purchasing of frosting and eggs. The presence can help guide you to the appropriate area of the bank.
Although it seems a little scary for some consumers, this information and is registered by most of the shops that use any type of card loyalty system. The integration of this application on a cell phone (with permission of course) can provide a benefit for both the consumer and retail trade, information and recommendations to be more accurate and meaningful.
Being a leader in terms of mobile development and development of electronic commerce, Amadeus Consulting is very familiar with augmented reality. Please contact Contact Us If you are interested in having a developed augmented reality application.
Travel
Almost anyone who has ever watched ABC's television show "The Amazing Race" I can tell that get lost in a foreign country and unable to speak the local language is a disaster inevitable.
Google has worked on a complete translation system in real time that he actually would have brought instant calls, or use a mobile application to do the translation and talk to you. There have been many attempts to do so, in varying degrees of success, and it will be interesting to see how Google finally compared.
Amadeus Consulting is currently using this technology to contact one of our customers develop electronic commerce, has been tested and true.
Exercise
This is a device that simply can not be ignored. It is the perfect blend of entertainment, travel, technology and innovation. NordicTrack carpet pseudo recent actions allows travelers to download tracks and highways that are then imitated by the treadmill, change Earth's tilt function of the track. Moreover, as the course progresses, the screen shows images of monuments and landscapes.
For us, this seems to be a very innovative technology mix traditional choices of high technology, resulting in a savings to consumers.
3D and Multi-Touch
We already mentioned the Microsoft ® Surface ™ before (and even now we have one for visitors to play with our Boulder, CO office) that is essentially a multitouch table shows information, play games, connect to Internet, recognizes gestures, and made a number of other things. In short, it's pretty cool. Surface works by integrating a camera and a projection system below the surface of the screen, with function as a table.
Without But now Microsoft is taking things upside down, reversing the notion. Instead of having the system function under the table, is being adapted into a device air, which is more portable and can be installed on any surface. Furthermore, it is also much more scalable as it can be adapted to work with surfaces small or large.
It is assumed (or at least we hope) This is an extension of Microsoft is very successful project in Natal, which is a visual object and a program gesture recognition primarily designed for the Xbox ®. Not only would be fun for gaming applications, but the retail and logistics planning can be much improved by it, in the style of the film Minority Report.
No word yet on any release date yet, since this is a test concept, but never out, we will be at the forefront of our port existing applications to the surface for the new technology.
